Dr Michelle Atkinson is a Sydney trained orthopaedic surgeon who has
subspecialised in surgery of the spine. She operates on all regions of the spine:
cervical [the neck], thoracic [behind the chest] and lumbar [the lower back].
After completing the orthopaedic training programme, she travelled to centres of
excellence in both the USA and The UK to further her training in spinal surgery. In
the USA she worked with Professor Thomas Whitecloud in New Orleans and Dr
Richard Holt in Louisville, Kentucky. She then travelled for further training to
Birmingham in the UK, working at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital as a Fellow in
the department with orthopaedic and neurosurgeons.
